The Human Compass

Understanding the body’s messaging systems, primarily pain and pleasure, are essential for achieving optimal health and well-being. Pain is often a signal from our bodies that something isn't quite right- pleasure is a sign that things are right!

Treating symptoms of pain can be helpful for a period of time, but its important that we don’t rely solely on symptom management without addressing the root cause of dysfunction and pain

To gain a deeper understanding of how our bodies work, we must begin to identify the root cause of our pain. The way you body holds itself at rest (just standing, for example), can help us understand how the positions we move into throughout our day impact our overall joint and muscle health. We can also explore how different emotions and traumas can manifest and multiply our physical pain, engaging in a mind-body treatment protocol.

Learning how to approach our pain with an open mind is crucial to healing the body. Listening to the body’s messages, particularly pain and pleasure, helps us learn how to read the body’s compass. Ultimately, this helps us tap into the root causes of our pain, eventually healing the underlying dysfunctions that caused it, instead of just masking it through symptoms-first approaches.

My job as a movement educator is not just to help you heal, but to help you  understand what your pain is trying to tell you.
